A good ending to the original dragonets of prophecy story. I wasn't sure what to expect with this series, but I was happily surprised. I look forward to reading more books in the series.

There were just like,, a few very plot-relevant moments that were just far too convenient for my taste.
Spoiler(Like Sunny happening to tumble into the one cave on the giant-ass mountain that has her father inside, orrrr the scavenger randomly dreamvisiting Sunny and understanding her when she wanted the rest of the treasure and later revealing the location of the eye of onyx with Oasis's body, orrrrrrr the eye of onyx having dragon-destruction powers, saving Thorn from Blister, orrrrr---)
Which is unfortunate because Sunny is a fantastic character in this first series---up there with Glory, even. Sutherland has a talent for creating not-straightforward (although I wouldn't necessarily say complex) characters that are accessible for the average kid. She also has a talent for making a character seem one way throughout all the books (Sunny is a ditz) and then complicating them in their POV book (Sunny is a very smart dragon held back by her friends' low expectations of herself). Also I love the "Band of Outlaws with a Tough Leader Who Has a Heart of Gold" trope, I'd die for it, and that's like a third of this book so.

From the perspective of Sunny. Definitely my favorite book of the series. The character development in this book is captivating.
