I liked the story in this book better and in some of the issues the art is really well done. Some parts of the book were confusing though and an issue or two had some really weak art.

I have mixed feelings about this book, even though the first half felt disorganized the second half is a great buildup to whatever Gail Simone have in store for the next volume. For me it is kinda weird for having Batgirl/Barbara Gordon's background story restart for the New 52 by DC. As if Oracle did not exist and so does Birds of Prey. This and Vol 1 are stories that happened 3 years after the Killing Joke by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland event(guess DC still in love with Alan Moore).

I do understand that the New 52 is trying to pull in new readers who are not familiar with the Batman mythos. And one reason I don't collect single issues anymore because every year or so they re start franchises like they change underwear. I'd prefer reading the trade collection just in case the series ends (I, Vampire) or restarting all over again (Action Comics, Justice League). Sucks to read comicbooks sometimes.

Anyways I am torn between artists Ardian Syaf and Ed Benes to go along Gail Simone's storytelling. Maybe have Ardian do the covers and Ed do the interiors. I hope Gail and the artists should do the series for the next 5 years.

A great continuation of this iteration of Batgirl. The plot thickens, action rises, and the questions multiply... how will it end? Definitely appropriate for our high school collection.

Maybe 3.5? This volume had two separate story arcs and I'm not sure how they're connected. Maybe I missed something and I'll pick up on it when I read it again. Also the first arc wasn't resolved except for one scene at the very end which I guess was supposed to make up for it. I don't know. It was enjoyable, but not the best volume I've ever read. I did like the Batwoman cameo, though, and also the cameo of one of the characters from Gail Simone's The Movement (even though it was kind of sad to see how she ended up).

Just as good, if not better, than volume one. Plus, guest appearances by Dinah and Lois were some of the great highlights.

A good continuation of the story. I love Gail Simone's writing. She's great at using Batgirl's back-story wile also keeping her relatable with a fun inner monologue.

"I became my own white knight," Barbara Gordon reflected those years ago when she became Batgirl, but Gotham just keeps getting crazier and crazier. I think I'm seeing why storytelling is more often DC's domain (at least, not quite Marvel's). There's just enough juicy detail to keep you wanting to reach for more, just enough emotion to keep you caring, just enough despair to make you believe the good guys may not make it alive.

Gotta admit I was worried about this one when I was about half way in. It seemed really disjointed and the timeline was all over the place. But it came together nicely without immediately answering all the questions. The art was amazing again, probably some of my favorite I've seen so far. I'm kinda amazed at how much I like this series, and I like that, too.

I've always been a fan of Barbara Gordon and am having a good time with this series so far. While I miss the Oracle days it is fun to see Batgirl back in action. The story is fun and the book looks great.

I interviewed one of the artists on the book, Alitha Martinez, for the All the Books Show. Find it here: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/episode-267-alitha-martinez-on-batgirl-black-panther-and-more
