I’m in my summer book reading era. This is what? The third or fourth one? Anywhooooo! It was cute, the romance was whatever but what’s new. They did have some sweet moments towards the end but that was after the dreaded third act drama *eye roll*. Also are CR writers allergic to making the MC the exciting/pretty one out of the sibling/friend duo? It’s soooo boring and overdone.

Sunkissed is a super cute, teen romance. But that's not the only focus, because this book is also about self-discovery and stepping out of your comfort zone. It's a coming of age story, with building friendships and family issues weaved together.

The summer before her senior year, Avery is about to spend two whole months at a camping resort with her parents and her 15 year old sister, Lauren. The camp has every summer activity imaginable, but it doesn't have Wi-Fi or cell reception. And that's not the only problem - Avery and Lauren are polar opposites in pretty much every way. While Avery is a people pleaser and an introvert who has no idea what she wants from life, her sister is a total extrovert who has a passion for video making and is a master at social media.

The story is partly centered around family, but fear not because summer camp equals summer romance and those expectations are met when Avery meets Brooks, a resort employee who plays guitar in the band that entertains during dinner meals. At first they don't really like each other, but their feelings quickly turn into attraction, even though the staff isn't allowed to mingle with the guests. The journey that lies ahead of Avery became more than she expects and the outcome had me

Kasie West is one of my favorite authors. She is an expert at lighthearted, feel-good romance.

I think the only thing about Sunkissed was that there didn't seem to be too much development of Brooks and Avery. I feel like there were a few montage-like scenes that could have given us a little more.
Spoiler I also think they started dating a little randomly, and then very quickly Avery was like "I guess we're broken up now." This could totally come with young relationships, but I do think there could have been a little bit more before the dating.

Overall, I will read anything by Kasie West and this was another enjoyable read.

cute YA novel! i liked how Avery was able to discover new things while being away at this cabin and I like how Lauren and Avery grew closer to each other as siblings during this time as well!

THE SWEETEST BOOK EVER! omg i loved it. the cutest and sweetest story, i just ate it up! avery was so very relatable and brooks was a SWEETHEART! i’m dying i loved every second

This was absolutely adorable and a pitch perfect summer YA romance with STRONG Dirty Dancing vibes! I LOVED this one a LOT!! Avery and her sister are dragged to a family resort for a device free summer. While there Avery meets and falls for the off-limits staff member Brooks, who is also in a band (conveniently enough for wannabe singer Avery). Avery is used to being a people pleaser and going along with what her parents want but this summer she learns to stand up for her own dreams, embracing her love for music and Brooks. Highly recommend this if you want a sweet YA summer love story. For fans of You have a match by Emma Lord or the upcoming Rise to the sun by Leah Johnson.

Such a cute book! It made me feel happy and swoony.

Kasie West is always reliable. You know what you’re going to get exactly what you want and expect every time. I enjoyed the sister relationship in this one.
