Typical YA escapist romance - and I say that with affection. Its cute, fluffy, coming of age story about the senior in high school who's in that odd phase of trying to figure out who she is and what she wants to do. It's one of those books that I can't be too hard on because of the nature of the genre. It's not this ground-breaking, deep book with philosophical questions and complicated relationships, but it's fun. It's lighthearted, sweet, a little cheesy but it works with this sparkly camp world.

This book went down easily — it's the definition of light reading. I enjoyed it, but I also suddenly started to feel so OLD. Avery's crises felt so dramatic at 18 ("but nothing at 22," to borrow from a TSwift lyric). I didn't feel a strong enough emotional connection to the characters.

Brooks was kind of meh to me. I kind of wished things didn't work out perfectly between our leads; that sometimes people don't speak up or don't take a chance and life goes on.

I also wish the Shay situation was addressed differently. I mean, seriously? It's the principle of the matter!

Once again another predicable romance, but I loved the setting of it. I liked how it was set at a camp in the summer time and her parents where there. I actually liked the ending and the friendship and sister stuff mixed in with the romance.

the second hand embarrassment is real

Sunkissed by Kasie West was a super cute book. I love the camp setting and the music vibe reminded me a bit of Camp Rock lol (anyone else remember those movies?).

I loved Avery’s character and how music fuels her. I can definitely relate. I love music for every mood and have a dozen playlists for whatever mood I’m in. Brooke was a cool character too. I liked the bit of his backstory that drove his passion. While the backstory was important I’m glad the story sort of focused on the present more.

This was a cute, fun, light and fluffy summer read. I would totally bring this to the lake/cottage!

The first fifty percent of this book wasn’t the best. There wasn’t really anything happening and the characters weren’t that interesting but then after that it definitely got better and redeemed itself. The ending was probably the best part of the book and not because I just wanted it to be over. This book is good if your looking for a cute simple read that is fast paced, a good pallet cleanser and a good book to get you out of a reading slump.

took me a while to finish. a little boring, but a good summer read
