Kasie West

3.7 AVERAGE

Kasie West has done it again I love this woman and her books so much. While I definitely call some of her older books "guilty pleasures," the more and more stuff this woman puts out, the better she gets. This book was so lovely and heartwarming and I related to Avery a LOT. There were several scenes where she struggles with confrontation, specifically states she doesn't like people being mad at her (ME!!), and get stressed when other people are sad or unhappy (This line in particular I really related to: "Because I can't do this right now. You're snapping at me, and normally you have happy eyes and right now your eyes are super intense. And even though logically I get that it's because you're in a bad mood about really important things, it's stressing me out." This was put so well lol and kinda identified something in myself that I feel all the time.)

The plot was nothing special at all, but Avery, Brooks, and Lauren definitely make it special. Again, Kasie West just writes characters so well and again, I will read everything she ever writes. I don't know if this is my favvv?? But it's up there. I might have to buy a copy of this one to own for my shelves!

I read this poolside because the newest from favorite #KidLit romance author @kasiewest, felt like the right choice. I loved it!!! And the Dirty Dancing vibes it gives off.

I've read a number of Kasie West's books now and I think she is so talented at capturing the heart of sweet, innocent romances. This was such a cute summer read, the kind that leaves you smiling when you close the book.

Very sweet summer romance that has a great setting. The book was easy to read and put me in a good mood. However, the book is a bit of a cliche in some places and will probably resonate better with a younger readership.

Cute fun music filled romance. Just what I've come to expect and want from Kasie West books!

Absolutely adorable!!

This was my first Kasie West novel and it did not disappoint! Avery’s parents drag her and her sister to a remote family camp for two months out of the summer. Where the cabin lacks in cell service, it makes it up with outdoor activities, cute boys, and music (which has always been an escape for Avery).

As someone who loves music and cabin vibes, I adored this book. It was the perfect book to read at my family’s cabin up north. I loved watching Avery’s growth from the person she was before their family vacation to the person she wants to be. She learns to stand up for herself and take risks. I really enjoyed Avery as the main character. She is someone you definitely want to root for. Plus, how could you not love a summer vacation romance?! Sunkissed is cute, heartwarming, and full of hope.

The beginning of this was a little slow but it picked up probably around 25% and then it was really cute. I enjoyed Avery and Brooks budding romance throughout the book and I liked all the band stuff. Avery spent the book trying to figure out what she had a passion for, what made her feel something and I enjoyed her journey and how she stood up for herself and what she wanted.

This was basically a modern copy of Dirty Dancing. The quiet people pleaser joins her family at a summer club where she meets a male employee. He helps her come out of her shell and she helps him win a talent performance. I don’t think I was expecting it to be so lighthearted and easy. It’s a great summer read if you’re looking for something quick and unemotional. I found myself cringing so often but I guess it was due to the junior-in-high-school main character.
