When I finished this book, I actually said, aloud, “Awww, that was so cute!” THAT’S how cute this book was. It was absolutely adorable with plenty of summery vibes. Avery was a really likable protagonist and I loved the relationship between Avery and her sister Lauren. The romance was super cute and swoony. Brooks was a real sweetheart and they had great chemistry together. I like that she could be herself with him and they both helped each other work through their problems. This is definitely the quintessential summery read. It was just adorable.
IT TOOK ME AN EMBARRASSINGLY LONG TIME TO RECOGNIZE THE DIRTY DANCING BEATS BUT THIS WAS SUCH A FUN SUMMERTIME ROMANCE

Another summer YA romance from Kasie West! She is the queen of cute lighthearted romances and this was definitely another one. Avery is forced to attent family camp where she meets Brooks together they bond over their love of music. They progressed from friends to band mates to lovers and it felt so natural. I loved the side characters, Lauren, Kai and Maci. And the music aspect kept it all together. A super cute read.

I love summer camp settings and this one was no different. Avery really got to know herself throughout this book and I started liking her more when her relationships with other people developed. I would have loved more friendship moments than we got and an earlier onset of the romantic relationship but overall a fun contemporary romance.
Family camping trip without wifi, cute boy in a band and the potential for a summer romance make for another fluffy contemporary YA read by Kasie West. Her books are such a comfort and I will continue to pick them up!
Likable main character? Check. Journey of self-discovery? Check. Swoony boy? Check.
Kasie West is the best. (Get it? It rhymes.)

Honestly, not my favorite Kasie West. This was fine, but I have some quibbles from the title (which has very little to do with the actual plot) to the execution of character development (maybe I'm supposed to buy that these baby steps in changes to Avery's people pleasing ways is enough growth, but I wanted more). Also, her fight with Brooks made me like him less and I don't feel like there was enough done to restore him in my esteem). Cool to see a book about people pleasing and trying to fight it and learn who you are, but I just wanted it to go further. Also, Kai and Ian are into each other right? It never goes beyond them talking a lot and Kai saying something about Ian being sensitive and he "should know" but I FEEL LIKE SOMETHING IS HAPPENING THERE AND I DON'T THINK I'M MAKING IT UP.
