My first book on anarchism so I found the theory/principles of it really interesting and resonating.

I enjoyed the sections of the book where it was more interview based as I felt like that was more engaging than the other sections. I did like the last section where he spoke about how languages play a factor and as I know Chomsky from studying English language I found it to be fascinating since I never knew the anarchist side to him when I was a student of EL and linking the two topics was awesome sauce

This is a good introduction to these ideas, especially with regard to the Spanish Civil War

An interesting review of Chomsky’s interpretations of Anarchism and his position as an Anarchist. I would recommend it for anyone that already has a working knowledge of Anarchism, and an understanding of the philosophical and social thinkers that came before Chomsky. I would advise reading John Stuart Mills ‘On Liberty’ and some of Humbolts works before picking up ‘On Anarchism’, or some of the references to liberalism and libertarian theory may be overwhelming. Highly academic in language, difficult to wade through for those that zone out when faced with too much technical language, but worth trying (it is short in length, which helps!).

Hard to rate this one. In a sense I'd give pretty much anything by him 4-5 stars but this is a mish-mash of collected writings from elsewhere mjuch of which I'd come across in one form or another already. It did improve my understanding of Anarchism a little, but his talk 'On Government' is probably better. WHat would have been great is if this had included some up-to-date stuff, although to be fair, he doesn't really lose relevance.

3,5 stars; politics really is not one of my main interests, but Chomsky has some original insights, one of them is recognizing society as a complex dynamic system; no grand a priori political ideology will yield favorable long term results; instead employ a trial-error-succeed tinkering (or heuristic) approach; a far more sane tactic when decision making is called for in situations with incomplete information.

I'll have to read more Chomsky to know if i'm persuaded by this book's arguments.
