This book is a wonderful three-dimensional insight into just how weird the town of Night Vale actually is. The new characters interact well with the ones we have come to love / fear in the podcasts, and they are true people (although not always human). I suggest that as soon as you complete the novel, you immediately return to "Epilogue" in the podcasts. I can think of one major aspect that will make a lot more sense upon a second listening.

I grew up listening to Welcome to Night Vale podcast, and as this book is as absurdist as the podcast, and a coming of age story, I love it. It is so deeply a part of me it is hard to explain. If you are not about the paranormal or absurdist humor, you won't like it. But for me, it is everything
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHBHBHHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVED IT "YOU'LL THANK ME LATER"- Savannah

[EDIT: I realise this review sounds a lot more negative than I wanted it to, I had a bad day when I wrote it. If you like WtNV I'd still recommend picking it up, I just personally couldn't really get into it.]
I was a big fan of Welcome To Nightvale when it came out, and as a podcast the weirdness works wonderfully. As a book, unfortunately, not so much. You can definitely tell that the authors are used to writing podcasts, rather than novels. The plot could be described as 'this could have been an email' and the characters felt more like concepts than actual people. I found this happens a lot with books that go for 'Vibes' with a capital V, and it didn't bother me as much here, but I still couldn't really connect to either of the two.
I did like the weirdness, I have ten years ago and I still do, but a story needs stakes and tension. And if you can explain away every plot hole or strange thing that happens with 'oh, that's just how Night Vale is' then it just becomes background noise.
The book is alright. I liked it. It had some pearls of wisdom and it's very different from the books I've picked up recently. I just couldn't get that invested.

Pure confusion. I didn’t understand this book, it has so much nonsense in it. I think it tried to be funny, but I just didn’t get it. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that english isn’t my native language, or I just don’t get the humor.
I was very drawn to the relationship between Diane and Josh - perhaps only because I'm a mother and someday will be a mother to some teenage boys. I loved the metaphor of adolescence as portrayed in Josh. And, of course, I loved the surreal and discombobulated nature of storytelling that is Night Vale.
Weird....... Super weird...... and awesome. Night Vale is pure insanity, mixed with great humor. It is such a fun universe.
