This book is so charming. I loved every second of it.

I am so disappointed that it took me so long to read. I've been so sidetracked with college applications and essays that reading was put on the back burner. Unfortunately, this book had to suffer.

Although I don't have much to say about the plot, I loved the characters. Each character was so complex. They all had their good aspects and their flaws. Not a single character was without a bad side, and we see that through all of the multiple perspectives. Even the protagonist is not perfect, when her whole character is about being perfect.

I am very content with this book, and I'm tempted to read other books by this author. I can't wait to read the sequel to American Royals!

i was entranced at all times and found the different perspectives to be incredibly compelling. character motivation was really interesting especially as many of the girls throughout this novel have ambitions that directly contradict one another. i think it can be relatively tropey but that comes with the territory of a YA novel. predictable at time but comforting for those reasons lol.

I absolutely flew through this alternate history of the United States (assuming that Washington became king instead of supporting a democracy). I loved the light and easy tone of the writing. The world building was gently incorporated and I would have like to have the alternate history expanded more. The book raced to the end and left us teetering on a cliff - if waiting for the next bugs you hold off on this one until Sept 2020 when the next in the series is released.

This is the next gen Gossip Girl/Princess Diaries crossover I needed. Great on audio. Tons of teenage/YA drama with plenty of royal twists. Loved the the mixup to America as a monarchy for the setting. Fun read!
