What an incredible book. It has such a unique idea and that in combination with its beautiful storytelling is what makes it an absolute classic. I was in tears multiple times and at this point I honestly just feel sorry for the poor horse. I also love how the author links it to a real life painting and almost tells the story of how it may have come to light. In general this book was absolutely incredible and I loved every second of it.

Honestly loved this. The politics of peace runs through every sentence. But a few details pulled me out of the realism and it wouldn’t pass the bechdel test which is a sadness.
