Taylor writes about all the different ways that the whole world, and all that we do, say, and observe is the house of God. It's beautiful.
Barbara Brown Taylor writes alongside a handful of giants who have deeply informed my thinking and my life experience -- authors like Buechner, Capon, Nouwen, Lewis. Reading this book, I realized that these writers make my list of giants in part because they stand shoulder to shoulder with all of us regular, struggling schmucks and then tell the truth about it.
I read through this book slowly, absorbing a chapter or so each week, and thinking carefully about how I live my day to day life. It has changed how I look at my body, how I walk upon the earth, how I categorize the things and people around me, my attitude when cleaning my house, the way I interact with people in my neighborhood, and by giving me grace in my deep struggles with organized religion.
It was a book to savor, and I will undoubtedly return to its pages many times in the future.

I loved this book so much. I don't think I'm going too far by saying this book is a life changer. Beautifully written and provacative!
Amazing, beautiful, words do not describe how I feel about this book. Can I give it more than 5 stars?
Loved this book SO much. It was my first Barbara Brown Taylor book and as I soaked in every single word, it fed my soul. Definitely one I will keep accessible!
Well written book about finding God and spiritual practice in everyday living.
I loved the first half of the book. I feel like it's worth reading for that. The second half didn't speak to me the same way, but still had moments where things resonated or challenged.
I enjoy her books on faith. This one didn’t speak to me as much as the other two I’ve read by her. I enjoy her honesty in writing about her spiritual journey.
A reread nearly 10 years later, and this book is still a wonderful spiritual companion to keep coming back to.
I really enjoyed this book! I read it slowly savoring each chapter. I appreciated that each chapter introduced a new way to connect with God in a way outside the norm. My only note of critique is that it is clearly written to a privileged audience so some of the anecdotes come across as a little out of touch.
