i like the two spirit rep. there were some really sweet moments in this book that i loved. just overall a good story and portrayal of queer struggles, natives’ struggles with racism, and coming of age but with a happyish ending.
Graphic: Bullying, Homophobia, Racism
Because I still (and will forever) miss Bowie, this book jumped right out to me. I've been wanting to read it for months, waiting and waiting and waiting for it to finally be published. I was not disappointed!
The voice in this novel was so present, I felt like I was having a conversation with Jonathan. What he felt, I felt. This novel was a powerful experience and I will be recommending it to everyone I know.
At first, I was thrown by the format of Jonathan's thoughts. All of the onomatopoeia was a bit overwhelming, but as I got further and further into it, I was able to set the way it irked me aside. I was able to allow the story to be told as it was and really ended up enjoying it.
The only reason this ended up being 4/5 was that I felt some of the characters to be stereotyped. Mostly Web and his family. I felt his character and his background was a story that needed to be heard, but the way he and his family spoke...came across as a white guy writing a Native American's voice and I wasn't in love with that.

What took away the most from book for me was the writing, that's probably why I liked the second part better.
Also would have loved to see their relationship develop more, as well as the protagonist's relationship with his best friend.
But this was also my first time reading a book with a Native American character, and I truly appreciate it for that.

It was absolutely amazing and heartfelt I absolutely loved it,it was so beautiful and well written, I do wish we'd seen more of their relationship but nevertheless it was a very great read
oh how i am convinced that this was written for me..
i picked this book up because the rise and fall of ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars is one of my absolute most favorite albums in the whole world. when i then read the back and i saw that it was set in the 70s and would include a queer love story… i instantly bought it.
after a couple months i finally decided to sit down and read it. fastest i have read a book in a long long time. when i started and soon discovered that Web was native american that just changed everything for me.
as a native american and a member of the lgbtq2+ community, ziggy, stardust & me is so important to me!! i am so so happy that this book exists and i hope that more people who are just like me can read it and experience this wonderful story.
