Lady Calpurnia (Callie) is a 28 year old, on-the-shelf spinster. Gabriel is surprised when prim and proper Lady Calpurnia unexpectedly appears asking him for a kiss. He turns the situation to his advantage by making her a deal; a kiss for her help launching his newly discovered half-sister in society this season.
The two MC's were sweet to watch. Dancing around their feelings for each other. Ralston caring for and protecting Callie at every turn, yet not realising the depth of his feelings till the end. Callie so sure of her shortcommings, she can't trust that someone so "perfect" as Ralston could ever see her as attractive. So many tropey boxes ticked. It was clear that the author is a lover of the historical romance genre.

Like a lot of other’s reviews… this book dragged out. I loved the start with a list of 9 items and thought that was going to be the primary theme. It went downhill for me in the second half.

This was fun to read, I haven't read a lot of historicals but so far am finding them very goofy and very smutty (fun!)
POV changes within a chapter drove me a lil cray, it started out mostly full or half chapter switches and then went to kind of random parts of chapters with seemingly no break, and a couple instances where another character got their POV for a paragraph or two (I'm assuming to set them up to be the main character in other books of this series).

Love a lady that has goals, especially when those goals involve breaking a bunch of society's stuffy rules.
Having never read Sarah Mclean before but only hearing very good things, I'm glad I finally took the plunge and read her debut novel ( she is long past debut) but It was soo good.
Wallflower with a backbone for adventure meets her match in a long-held love interest rake. It was a wonderful read and personally, so many reviewers have done it justice.
I cannot wait to read the others stories.
