I felt a lot of things while reading this book, but the thing I remember feeling the most strongly was the way my heart was racing during the trial sequence near the end of the book. I also remember how vividly I recall the setting. How much I felt for Kya over the course of the book. This really is just a remarkable case study on the ways relationships can impact you as a person. I wouldn't call it a fun read, but it is definitely a cathartic one.

äärettömän kaunis ja koskettava.
Five years late on this one, and also somehow right on time.
My thoughts on this one are a little disjointed but I want to get them down while it’s fresh in my mind:
Marsh girl on trial for murder. Two or three times I was SURE I had guessed the ending and I was wrong every time. When I finished the last page I applauded. A few times while reading it I yelled aloud (“TATE!!!”). Also how did this book somehow glamorize living in a beat up shack by a marsh? I want to be friends with Jumpin. I envied Kya’s endless stretches of time to just appreciate and log the things she loved. Can nature be a main character?
This book also made me realize that in a novel, I don’t need a whole lot to happen if the main character has an interesting inner world.
I am so excited to watch the movie now.
