So much better than the movie, as per usual. A great read, especially if you want something shocking and scary.

Hill scares me. Really, really scares me in this book. It's really good.

A solictor tells the story of his visit to a marsh bound manor. It is the reason he doesn't tell ghost stories. Who is the pony trap, what is with the rocking chair?

Hill's terror doesn't so much come from plot, but from an excellent ability to write mood. Boy, can she write mood.

SO HAPPY I finished this it made me sick with dread to this day the movie terrifies me!!!!!! Super fun to read in the dark and essentially home alone

A spare little ghost story, written in the style of an early 20th century book. Atmospheric but not overly original.
