I really enjoyed reading this debut book by R.L. it is about Lana and her five mates leader Hale, the twins Luke and Leo, shy and so cute Zedd and angry Ash they've all been friends for years. The boys and Lana find out they have magic from the Goddess .Gaia what happens next you will have to read and find out.
I’m ashamed that it took me this long to read Desolation, cause boy have I been missing out!
Lana is such a great character, sassy and whip smart. The growth of her character is *chefs kiss*. I also love the dynamic between her and the guys. & the villain threw me for a loop.
I’m so pissed at myself for not reading this sooner. Can’t wait for Detonation!

This is the first book by RL Caulder and the first in a her series Darkness Rising. It is a reverse harem with broken, quirky, and lovable characters. Lana rises from an insecure girl with a broken and damaged past, to a woman fighting for her life, her realm, her loves.
Even though I had a migraine for part of the ARC timeline, I had trouble not reading this. I just wanted to know how it worked out. I hate sometimes when you are right about something, but you hold out hope it gets resolved. Guess we will have to wait for Book 2, Detonation.

Very creative! Interesting storyline that was sometimes hard to follow. Anticipation really sparked in many of the scenes with multiple mates! Sometimes I wasn’t fond of the female lead Lana. She can be bossy and mean. She also tends to think she acts like an adult one her behavior is very immature. I did like the storyline however as it was fresh and new and not some thing I read all the time.
Just wow!
I started and finished this book in one day. It pulls at your heart strings and makes you want to keep reading. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Oh boy. If you read the blurp, you think it's going to be a wild ride. This is expecting to ride one of the worlds top 10 roller coasters, but ending up on the Caterpillar in kiddie land.
Desolation follows 6 FOSTER SIBLINGS as their world is suddenly turned upside down and the fate of the universe falls on their shoulders.
I'm not going to summarize much more. So let's get on to the critique.
First, these are kids who have grown up together as SIBLINGS and they now develop into a reverse harem relationship that apparently has been simmering under the surface for a while. Honestly, I couldn't get past this fact. 50 shades of wrong on this one.
Second, for a reverse harem romance novel off of Kindle Unlimited the spicy level is extremely low. I'd say 2 out of 5 stars. Nothing happens until 75% and that's just sad.
Third, the plot is just all over the place. It's trying to be a romance but it's mostly fantasy. The book is marketed as a fantasy romance, but how the plot is set up didn't work for me at all.

This is my first book by R.L. Caulder and I enjoyed it very much. Will definitely be reading the next book. I’m curious as to what happens next and I want my questions answered that I have after reading this book.

This whole series was so good I had to get hard copies of them. definitely recommend!!
