My 2nd Lucy Score book AND
Lucy does it again!! So brilliant, sweet, sexy, what dreams are made of romance, and hubba hubba. This can be read alone but the series will have you going for all of her books!

Thank you for the honor to read this book, Netgalley, Lucy and Sourcebooks, Bloom books.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read Finally Mine by Lucy Score. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Pretend You're Mine, and was excited to read the story of Gloria and Aldo. This story deals with some tough topics such as domestic abuse and war injuries however this book had a satisfying ending. I'm looking forward to reading the third book in this series.

Thos book did not keep my interest, as it was halfway a retelling of the first book with just a little extra that was only about these 2 characters. Still good heat, as one can expect from Lucy Score.

We're back in Benevolence. This story is about Aldo Moreta and Gloria Parker. Aldo missed his chance in high school and Gloria spent 10 years in an abusive relationship before everything came to a head when Harper came to town and saved Gloria when her boyfriend was hurting her in the parking lot of the local bar. While the boyfriend (Glenn) went to jail, Gloria set about trying to build a new life, one where the people in town didn't look at her and think "poor little Gloria Parker"

When Gloria ended up with Glenn, Aldo decided to join the National Guard along with his best friend Luke.

Right after the incident at the bar, Luke and Aldo get deployed for their 4th tour of duty in Afghanistan. Aldo also makes sure that Gloria knows that when he comes back home, he's coming back for her.

Aldo is severely injured and gets sent home. But Aldo has always been passionate about taking care of his health and his fitness, so while he recovers, he knows he'll never be the same, and he's not as sure of himself as he once was.

I can't say much more without revealing Aldo & Gloria spoilers - but if you read Pretend You're Mine (book 1), this story runs parallel, time-wise, so you'll see a lot of familiar parts of the story as you go.

Lucy Score is one of my absolute favorites, and these stories from Benevolence are just a few of the dozens of excellent books she's written. If I could rate these 10 stars, I would. Lucy writes excellent spice too.

I was a little nervous starting this one when I realized it exists in the exact same timeline as ‘Pretend You’re Mine’. I worried it would feel redundant, but I was also very curious how things would work out because you got just enough surface level detail in the prior book to know that Aldo & Gloria’s relationship was progressing but with none of the details. I loved it. Aldo is the (im)perfect cinnamon roll hero (mostly) and Gloria is starting a brave new life. I loved how he “forced” her to find herself so that any relationship they began could begin on solid footing.

There were some aspects of realisticness I questioned, like healing timelines primarily (both mental and physical), but I assume this was just a case of artistic license, and didn’t let it bother me too much. I just loved Aldo & Gloria.

I don’t know what to say (again) about this series. When I saw books 1&2 available to review, I was excited! I’ve enjoyed Lucy Scores newer releases. However, sometimes when older titles are re-released, they don’t always land the same way. I expected these books to be heartwarming small town tales. I don’t know if I’m the problem but they were both pretty toxic. It’s surprising. In this book, Gloria is in an abusive relationship for a decade. Both her mother and the male romantic interest in this book were aware of the abuse. The whole town was aware of the abuse. Apparently no one ever tried to help her? There were some big hurdles to climb in the first half to get on board with how everything turned out in the end. I did like this second one more than the first so that’s a plus!
*Thanks to Bloombooks and NetGalley for this advance review copy of the republished book.
