I liked this book, but I have to admit I didn't love it. Tom was awesome. Just awesome. Lyla, not so much. I get she was hurt. Totally get it, but the way she treated Tom was unbelievably frustrating. The back and forth was killing me and I had a hard time understanding why Tom thought she was worth it. That being said, the writing was typical Samantha Towle, which means awesome. Plus, once Lyla got her shit together I enjoyed them as a couple. I just wish the epilogue was further into the future for them. We got a kick ass look into the future for Tru and Jake in the last book I just wish we got one for Tom and Lyla. Now I know the author said this was the end of the series but I really think a Cale book would be awesome. Loved him.

Talk about a disappointment... Nothing really happened. We don't even see Lyla's father and he could have been the only character who could have made the story a bit interesting.

The characters were immature, the "I want you/I don't want you" part annoyed the crap out of me as soon as it began. The story was vulgar and I'm kinda used to read erotica. But in this book, the sex scenes and the lines were just tacky.

No one in this series can outshine Jack and Tru's story.

Was going to one star this, but I like Lyla's character so I went a bit higher.

I really despised Tom's character in [b:The Mighty Storm|15724654|The Mighty Storm (The Storm, #1)|Samantha Towle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1345793260l/15724654._SX50_.jpg|21400430] series. It was hard to try and think of him as a "good guy" when he was a manwhore and a complete joke in the previous books. He wasn't just sleeping around, he was sleeping with anyone with a female pulse. In [b:Wethering the Storm|16053316|Wethering the Storm (The Storm, #2)|Samantha Towle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1368083888l/16053316._SX50_.jpg|21837591] he tells God if he saves the life of Tru (she's been in a car accident), he will renounce his manwhore ways and only have sex with someone who means something to him. So I was really looking forward to this one.

I loved Lyla's character for a huge chunk of the story, she was a strong, sassy, take no shit girl! My major complaint with stories like this is when you have a male rockstar, it’s all about what an amazing musician he is and how many women want him. But when you have a female rocker, where are all the men wanting her? Groupies? What about her musicianship? So disappointing.

Tom has tried to get Lyla to sleep with him a few times and she’s the ONLY woman to have turned him down. She is 20 and he is 29, so there’s a bit of an age gap here, not to mention his band is huge while she’s just starting her career. Long story short, he’s brought in to manage her band on tour and they end up lusting/flighting each other. He says some really awful things to her.
“I think you want me bad, Lyla. And it scares the shit out of the frigid bitch you've become after what your brother and that dick of an ex did to you.”
Basically every woman they run into has had sex with Tom and wants a repeat performance, including the stylist that is hired to work with Lyla.
"She’s coming here, and I’m taking her up onto the bus and into your bedroom where I’m gonna spend all night f*cking her brains out while you sit outside listening to the kind of sex a frigid bitch like you could only dream of having.”
Gosh, I’m sure Tom’s a really nice guy who means well.

I just couldn't find many redeeming qualities about this man. It takes until 90% before he confesses he actually has a heart and by then it was too late for me.

If you want a really beautiful story of a reformed rockstar read [b:Fall|41721680|Fall (VIP, #3)|Kristen Callihan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1536242712l/41721680._SY75_.jpg|56130463] instead.

DNF

Heroine's inner voice was way too juvenile for my taste. She had to catalogue her (usually) inane reaction to every external stimuli. She could barely stand the hero in the early chapters and yet we had to get how every part of her body reacted every single time she set eyes on him.

The "banter" between her and hero was painful to read.

And I feel like I got second hand herpes just from reading the first couple of chapters and hearing about all the women the hero and members of her band bone and treat like shit.

Not my thing.

Oh how I loved Tom Cat!!

I have had this book sitting waiting for me to get time to read it since the day it was released, and finally, finally I got to it.

I adored Jake and Tru in the first two books, and I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Tom Carter, The Mighty Storm's bassist.

I loved how we watched as he transitioned from asshat "mut" - man slut, to the man he is with Lyla.

Lyla irritated me a little the way she toyed with Tom, but I guess I could also understand it as we have found out why. You could feel the fire burning under all that animosity.

Another great book from Samantha Towle!

I cannot believe this book was published. the characters have something but are handled so poorly. most of the book is telling rather than showing or in action. even when interacting, we get such long narratives between the dialogue that you forget what was going on by the time the character responds. I think it was particularly bad because i listened to the audio version and the narrator has very little range. she did lyla ok but her guys were awful. its a vapid book though it had potential to be a lot more. couldn't finish it.
