DID NOT FINISH

She had to explain that virginia was code for vagina after using Virginia as a code name for vagina.

Whoa Daddy. This book needs that 6th star. May actually be my favorite of series. Absolutely loved it. Dynamic between Tom and Lyla was complex, magical, stressful, and truly one of the hottest couples in contemporary erotic romance. Subplots were good and not a waste of time. Gotta say that Tom is really giving Jake and some of those other extremely hot BBFs a huge run for their money and status. Lyla is just a fire power of a woman. Loved her to pieces. One of those books/series for which I am truly sad that it has ended. Also loved how characters from previous books in series had significant parts though not overwhelming. Loved every minute of this book. Thanks Ms. Towle!

My first thought after reading this: "How the hell would I convey all of my thoughts and feelings for this book?"

I swear, I've felt every emotion available in this book.

Let me try to break it down for y'all!

THE PLOT

Lyla has had enough of men. Men in her view are meant to hurt her, unfortunately, that includes the one he valued the most. No one could break her ice. She was even considered a lesbian at one point. She's just not interested in men that way anymore... that is, until Tom came. On the other hand, my (ahem) Tom has a rule. He doesn't do feelings. He has his reasons, but it makes him a manwhore to the rest of the world.
This is the story of how they clash and burn. They fight, they flirt, the crash and they love the hell out of each other.

It's always a bad sign when the main characters agree to have a no strings attached arrangement. Someone will always be on the losing side because he/she is more likely to just fall head over heels. In Lyla and Tom's case, it was pretty predictable where it was going but the slow burn of their relationship had me squirming on my seat. I had this feeling of urgency. I wanted them to be together right away. This didn't happen though. The author wanted me to wait it out. She did well because when they finally accepted their relationship for what it was, it was so beautiful. :)

THE CHARACTERS

Lyla's personality will be loved by women (I think). She's the type of woman that won't back down, but also gets hurt in the process. She's that type of woman who wants more, but is willing to have what she can. I like how she reacts like a normal person. I remember one scene in particular wherein Tom and her were apart and she wants to know how Tom was doing. She was kind of wishing that Tom felt as bad (or more bad) as her. It's a classic woman knee jerk reaction when it comes to men. I like her because she stands up for what she wants and she has a colorful personality. No dull moments for her character. I love it! She also has this inert caring personality which fits her so well. She could be hard as a diamond, but she can also be such a buttercup when it comes to people that she cares about.

Tom on the other hand, is a big contradiction. He's the bad boy manwhore of the bunch on the outside, but he's also oh so sweet and understanding on the inside. He's also such a good person. He's so secretive because what happened a long time ago. He doesn't deserve what life handed to him in the past, so I'd like to think that he got his reward in the form of Lyla.

Lyla and Tom made an unlikely couple. They are both determined. I guess if this is a werewolf novel, they would both be alphas. When they fight, they REALLY FIGHT. It's great! haha! I like the fact that they go head to head. This story is not only explosive, it's Earth shattering.

ONE THING THOUGH....

Why did this have to be the end of this series? T___________________T

I guess everything's fine with all the characters and that's all that matters... It would've been nice though, if it had more books.

Anyhoo.. all in all.. I love the story and I love the characters. PERFECT STARS!!!

I loved Tom The Tomcat Carter from the very first book but after reading his backstory, I adore him even more now.

Taming the Storm is an amazing ending to a really great series. I enjoyed Tom and Lyla's banter. From the very beginning you could almost feel the sparks between them. I think the were an even better couple than Jake and Tru. I absolutely enjoyed this book and series and if am sad that the series has ended. I guess I'll just have to read the books all over again.

Just downloaded this book from iTunes so I could continue the series and I am appalled. The interior design of this book is hideous!!! I haven't even started reading yet, (and I know I'll love the story) but the graphics of the guitars and notes, even the font used for each chapter heading is just so damn ugly, it distracts from the actual story. If The Mighty Storm had these graphics, I probably would never have read it and missed out on a great story. It's that off-putting.
Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest. Going back to actually reading the book now.

What a great book! I loved Tom and Lyla. She was fiesty and spoke her mind, no filter! I loved that about her. The chemistry and tension between these two was something else. This is one of my favorite series!! I'm not crazy about the cover (much prefer the covers to the first 2 books!). When I see Samantha Towle is writing another book, I one-click and know I won't be disappointed. I can't wait for more books by her!!

I'm giving this 4.5 stars not because I didn't love it, just because I feel it wasn't as good as Jake n Tru's story.

Tom!!! I love Tom! God, what an amazing book. I couldn't put it down. When Tom drives Lyla home after their last night, I had a Dirty Dancing moment. She's like the wind was playing in my head and it was the same scene when Johnny says goodbye to Baby but it was with Tom and Layla.
I want more of them. And a book for Denny!!!!

This was an ok read. I liked the premise. Manwhore rockstar meets girl rockstar who has stricken off men causing lots of sexual tension. A classic storyline but one I enjoy.

But.

I didn't really feel that there was much substance to their affection other than they liked each others bodies. I wanted a bit more of them becoming friends. I felt a lot of the dialogue was filled with one liners and cliches. How many eye rolls can I do?

I felt a slight disconnect with the sex scenes. They were hot but I wasn't quite feeling it at times. Tom was a bit too much of an alpha asshole a lot of the time which just made me want to kick him in the balls.

I also felt the storyline waned a bit. There was a lot of arguing and mis understanding about the characters getting together with other people. It's fine once but it seemed to just repeat a bit and gave the characters a juvenile feel. There was lots of potential for storylines to evolve around Lyra's father Rally or her ex Chad, but these never came to much. And I really felt down about Dex's storyline. It was just too sad and I didn't feel that Lyra said the right thing at all when he was at his lowest ebb. It made me lose some respect for her. Add that to the slight cheating element at the end and it just leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

I am not opposed to cheating storylines if it is handled well but it never is so i always feel it's best left out. Lyra just comes across as weak in this situation. Forgiveness vs weakness is just a very complex thing so best left out IMHO.

But after all that, it was an ok read. I have not read the others in this series but I plan to now.
