This is my first Wimpy Kid book. Finished reading it in a single stretch. The book is like a fun ride, the readers will unknowingly become a part of that road trip. When my kid reaches an age to read, I will suggest the Wimpy Kid series for her.Â

Instead of a mishmash of events all woven together, this book changes things up by having only one central overarching story (the trip with Greg’s family). Always good to shake things up, especially when the last eight books have mostly been the same school/family shenanigans.
Interesting to see that Greg’s luck (or lack thereof) is an inherited trait.

Minor: Animal cruelty, Confinement, Car accident
It reminded me of a series "Wonder Years" that was aired on TV , when i was a Kid Myself !! Nice Light Reading , with something you connect to your own childhood !!! :)
I laughed ~10 times out loud, hard enough my eldest daughter asked what was so funny, so I have to rate this pretty highly.
Then when I came here on Goodreads, I saw a review where someone thought that using the Goodreads app would somehow let them read this book for free online. That amused me greatly. So this book has been the gift that just keeps on giving.

Greg and his family take a summer road trip that ends up being quite an adventure of unplanned mishaps. Think "Little Miss Sunshine" starring the Heffley family.
Probably my favorite in the series so far, right alongside Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever. Literally at every single turn there is humor and something epically awful awaiting the Heffley family.
Highly recommended for readers grades 4-8+.

I LOVED this book. I cracked up so many times but I felt bad for them too. That was the worst trip experience ever. The pig was hilarious. Manny’s fluency in Spanish was pretty great too.
