Freckle Juice, is a story about a boy named Andrew Marcus. He wishes he had freckles like a kid in his class named Nicky. He wants them so badly that he is willing to pay Sharon five weeks of allowance for a recipe to give him freckles, but it only makes him sick.

Worth rereading. Great early chapter book. Love Judy Blume!
Pretty good story with a lesson about self acceptance. A kid wanted to have freckles (not super sure why probably thought they were cool) then a girl in his class gives him a nasty recipe to grow (?) freckles. He tries it, gets sick, and doesn’t actually grow freckles (shocker). He decides to draw them on his face before going to school. Kids in his class make fun of him. Then his teacher gives him a recipe to get rid of his freckles and he wipes them off in the bathroom.
I remember that I mostly liked this book because my mom said if I read the whole thing then I could get the other (much longer) book that I really wanted. I read this one, got the other book, and now I only remember this one.
I loved this book when I was growing up. I was more of a Nicky Lane than an Andrew Marcus, though. My kids have all liked it, too.

A quick read—very appealing to the younger crowd.
Read for my FB book club's "Book-It for Grownups" program wherein you read ten books of any length, topic, or reading level this summer and when you get to 10 you win a Pizza Hut, Dunkie's, or Aroma Joe's gift card, super-cool stickers and other prizes. The world might be in total shambles but dammit our inner children still deserve the thrill of winning prizes for reading!
Carter (age 8.9): “It needs to be longer and have more story elements, like more stuff that happens”.
Matthew (age 6.5): “What he said. Like, the chapters are so short!”
