Can't pull anything over on my kiddo. As soon as we read what the freckle juice recipe was, he said, "That's a scam!"

This is a cute, quick little story. :) I like how it teaches kids in a subtle way that just being yourself is best.

Classic. I was so young and naive when I read it that I believed the teacher's freckle removing solution was really a magic solution.

Another author who I enjoyed as a kid! I always had my nose in a book

Cute and silly

- Gnome and I both liked this a lot.

- It was a cute and silly story, and I love how innocent and naive Andrew is.

- The illustrations were fun, and they matched the story well.

- This is a great one if you want a quick fun read with your kid.

Back to tutoring and doing summer homework!

Andrew is in the second grade and wants freckles more than anything else in the world. If he had freckles like Nicky then his mother wouldn't be able to tell that he hadn't washed. Plus, freckles are just so cool. His classmate, Sharon, picks up on his desire and offers to sell him her family's secret recipe for freckles--for fifty cents (five whole weeks allowance!). Andrew really wants freckles, though, so he pays up. In the end, it might not be what he wanted after all.

Blume's chapter book is adorable and a good lesson about differences and seeing that the grass isn't always greener. Good story and a fun read.
