A great book of short stories about the North Eastern US and Canada exploring small town/remote life from the 16th century to current day. I enjoyed reading all of these short stories and seeing how they interconnected. It was fun seeing a character, object, or place pop up in a different story, or hearing the same story from a different perspective. I would definitely recommend this if you are a short story enjoyer.
This was a short story that an upcoming Josh O’Conner and Paul Mescal movie is based on. A quick read but a very good story! I’m excited for the book that this author will be releasing this year and for the movie to come out at some point!

Really loved these stories, and their organization as part of the "hook and chain" .. the way the stories "rhyme" within couplets. Really fantastic setting, and all the characters are well-drawn. Beautiful book!

Confused by the love for this one. It's fine? A few duds, a few solid stories undone by sentimentality. It's not a structure thing. There's nothing particularly interesting about the connections between these stories, but I have no problem with a novel of linked stories. The best part of the work for me may have been the careful attention to birds.
