Iāve been in a reading slump so I needed someone quick and spicy to get me through itā¦ thatās my bad for not reading the blurb to find out this was a cop romance ššš
I listened to the audiobook and honestly the male voice actor made parts of this worth it and made Charlieās humor hit in a way I doubt would have translated on the page. But like this is so misogynistic itās unreal.
Both of these characters have mommy issues and instead of dealing with that Ever just does whatever her mom says??? And Charlie demands he canāt do a relationship because in his words āI resent her for having the ability to leaveā (wtf???) and instead sabotages Everās dating life.
Authors Iām begging you to stop using this trope in adult books!!! Itās kinda funny and cheeky when itās kids but when itās adults itās immature and how in the world are you supposed to build a relationship on that kind of lying and manipulation?
But at the end of the day itās a freaking COP ROMANCE so what was I expecting? Emotional intelligence? Never.
