Looking for something hot, intense and gripping? Then a Tessa Bailey book is what you need. Just like all of her other books she has created this deep and intense characters and you get sucked right into their world, feeling their turmoil and anguish. Charlie Burns is a police recruit, whose family just happen to be royalty in the police force. His path has been set for him since a young age, and he is determined and committed to following in the steps of his father and brother. He has no time for anything else, let along a relationship. So when he meets Ever Carmichael, he thinks he has found a unicorn. From the get-go she sets the rules in which he readily agrees to adhere to because he isn't looking for anything serious. But Ever Carmichael has also grown up with parental expectation. Her mother has impressed upon her that she cannot rely on a man, and must be independent at all costs. Going so far as to give a set of rules she must follow.
But the connection and attraction between these two was instant. Both of them have huge parental pressure on them that dictates their lives. And when both of them are thrown curveballs, that's where the true test lay. As usual there was enough dirty talk and sexy times to make my Kindle go up in flames. I loved the secondary characters and look forward to reading their own stories in this series.

I found it hard to like Charlie, and Ever was a bit of an idiot, too, with a dumb name. Charlie is so bent on keeping his fuck buddy he tries over and over to prevent her from finding someone to have a happy relationship with.... shitty. Later he realizes he’s in love with her. Doesn’t really excuse what he did when he just wanted in her pants, but the author really tries to twist it to make it romantic.
Both Ever and Charlie were raised by idiots who teach them some really toxic and harmful lifestyle choices, and somehow they both make it to the age of 23 without confiding this horseshit to a friend or somehow discovering it’s dumb, and they really don’t seem to know any better. This book just wasn’t for me.

I simply could not continue this audiobook…. MAYBE I’ll revisit and read the ebook
