I’ve always loved this series! Rereading and listening to it again bring me back when I first read the books when I was a teenager. It’s books like this that give a good fantasy and use a good amount of imagination to take you to a new world!

If I may talk about this book without giving away too much! First, as a book constructed in the 1950’s it still is considered a classic! The story having Digory and his friend Polly that started when they were tricked into a new world, it paved a new world at their fingertips. We see this story opens the beginning of creation in Narnia!
We also are introduced to Aslan, and the magical creatures that make Narnia and we see in Lion, the witch, and the wardrobe we see how the lamp post came in the woods. I never understood what a cozy fantasy is, but after rereading this, it is very much so. It’s like a nice hug and hot drink after a long day at work in the cold weather. It feels very much needed.

Finally, I love the simplicity of the story, and telling of it so all ages may enjoy this series.

I never read these when I was younger, I started hard and fast into Mythology and Horror and have only recently begun to read fantasy stories. So I figured, why not start with some of the basics (Lord of the Rings, The Ranger’s Apprentice and A Song of Ice and Fire are also amidst this list, so you see I really mean, the basics) namely, one of the most revered childhood tales of fantasy. I watched the movie as a kid, since it came out when I was only 11, and I loved it of course. It was fun and intriguing but also appropriate for that age. So, now being 24 years old, I was nervous about reading a children’s or young classic. I will admit, some parts became a little tedious but overall I was genuinely pleased with this first installment and look forward to reading the rest. It was as expected, young, but it was also fun. A lot happens, I assume to keep the reader intrigued, but there’s also a lot about the actual narration I found to be extremely appealing. The characters were straightforward, not a lot of depth, but the story itself was interesting and foreboding. I genuinely enjoyed it more than I planned for and although I do feel as if it would have had a greater impact on my reading structure if it had been read in my youth, I still found it fun and can understand why this is a must read for those who read fantasy and I think it’s lighthearted vibe, even in times of turmoil, and fast pace are great attributes in a book for new readers.

Fun trip down nostalgia lane
