One of my favorite things about Victoria Schwab's books is how the opposing themes play off one another. This book is no exception. I definitely wanted to finish reading this before Vengeful came out (plus the book tour!), and I am excited to see what direction Schwab takes the narrative!

For the most part, I think it'll be interesting to see how her writing style has improved/changed since the release of Vicious as well!

what a cool concept for the book. the book switches back and forth between two times- in one, victor & eli are college friends who are interested in studying the existence of E.O.s (extraordinary people with abilities); in the other, ten years in the future, you see how their studies played out. the chapters are short and the story is well paced. i loved vic and mitch and sydney and i thought the story was so cool, especially learning the why and how behind how the world works (i'm trying not to give too much away!). it almost reminded me of learning how the silver bars work in bable (obscure reference but also high praise in my mind). big fan of this book & looking forward to continuing with the series.

3.75. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. Maybe I'll read the rest of the series and find out.

‪Sometimes a family is an escaped convict, a cursed hacker with a chocolate milk habit, a perpetually freezing twelve-year-old, and their undead dog.‬

God bless anyone who’s waited five years for this book sequel, I only have to wait two weeks and it’s going to be torture.

I love Victor, Sydney, Mitchell, and V.E. Schwab. Nothing short of five stars.
