Overall, I really enjoyed this book. However she lost me a little with the cheating, not mention it was with the brother! I also prefer to see the fight break out than to skip the time and have it all be okay.

IM SO CONFLICTED. Dang. Idk if I can back this. It’s a good read and I enjoyed most of it. The plot is too crazy to come to terms with. But I guess that’s the sign of a good book. It defo hooked me in massively, I was reading obsessively today. Mercy mercy. Maybe too heart-wrenching for a reread.

I’m folorn, I’m shocked, I’m almost grateful that this WASNT my childhood when I was so sure I wished it was.

Apart from the ending, it was everything I wanted from my childhood. I was able to live vicariously through the pages. The lakeside sports, spontaneous shenanigans in the hot, summer nights, working together, growing together, bonding together and an all-consuming love was everything.

4 stars because I’m reading this genre for funny, happy vibes and my world was destroyed but it’s very well written and there were some deep, earthy moments of loveliness.

Thank you Irene for being my book-trauma therapist.

This book was another in my 12 Books Recommended by Friends Challenge. I didn’t love it… but I didn’t hate it either. It was a fairly predictable “friends to lovers” summer beach read. I liked the Canadian setting, but the characters were pretty one-note and cliche. If you need a nice, easy book to read by the pool, this may be the one for you.

3 stars.

to be so real, this book irritated me. i think the whole “copy-cat” thing (the other book being love and other words by Christina Lauren) just make me mad. i could see how much of the plot she basically used in her own book, and it made me feel something.

sam had a right to be mad. i agree. but he was such a bitch. oh my god was he was a little bitch! i did not like him. he didn’t know how to communicate anything whatsoever. he thought everything was always his way and it was just his world and charlie and sue and percy were just living in it. honestly sam, grow the fuck up. you are a grown ass man, bffr.

let’s dive in to percy’s character!! she was insane. she had no idea what the fuck she was doing, and she treated delilah AND chantal like absolute garbage. she ignored chantal when she was being an amazing friend, and slut-shamed delilah, her “closest friend.” i cant excuse her behavior no matter how hard i tried.

i liked charlie, i guess. he was a little annoying because he pined after percy the ENTIRE book, and it was so obvious that it killed me. percy needs to get a clue, and charlie needs to man up and tell her or get the hell over this little crush.

and the fact that they slept together makes me giggle. come on, sam! did you really think they weren’t going to? especially after you neglected your girlfriend and then told her you didn’t want to speak to her, set side one day out of the week for her. that is absolutely ridiculous. when you weren’t there for percy, charlie was. surprise surprise. idiotic.

overall, this book was nothing special at all. don’t get me wrong!!! i didn’t hate this book by any means. i just didn’t like the plot or character, and it affected my rating.

WOW. I loved this book. I loved the characters, the story line, the past/present time lines, and the big twist at the end
