So the finale is here. This one concentrates on Ridley, the most impatient, impulsive girl in the team. She is on the wheelchair, but that never hindered her in any ways.

Story revolves around Ridley where she is confronted with a set of clues which are leading towards Kalagan, the villain. But The magic misfits have decided to stay out of limelight and are not meeting up in front of the public. And Ridley who couldn't hold more, meets her old friends and start working on clues. Even though it starts getting dangerous, Ridley doesn't agree to go to Vernon's. We see her battling her own fears of loosing her family, friends and her own turmoils to keep her mouth in check itself is a tedious work for her.

This was a satisfying conclusion for the series where all the pieces come fit together with a back story of "The Emerald Ring" (Dante & Kalagan's childhood group). All's well that Ends well.

Happy Reading!!

Thoughts

This was the conclusion to The Magic Misfits series. And honestly it was solid. There were just a couple things that were a little too easy. But 3 stars is good. This instalment followed Riley who was my least favourite throughout this series but she has a massive character arc. I loved seeing her growth that alone makes this series worth the read. Towards the end we get a bit of a lesson in love and forgiveness and honestly I think this would be an amazing series for kids. It’s fun, it’s magical, it’s all you want in a children’s book.

Things I loved
- The friendship: that has been a consistent highlight throughout this series I love their friendship/found family dynamic. In general the misfits complement each other but they do have their differences
- The morals: as I said there are lessons to be learnt and while it was delivered as a speech (which wasn’t my favourite) the meaning behind it was sweet
- The plot: I really liked the story of this instalment. There were a few twists and turns which I didn’t see coming but that’s because I don’t look too deeply for those things. I think if your a reader that thinks ahead you’d probably guess a few of the plot twists but as it was I enjoyed it

Things I didn’t love
- The writing: I don’t know if it was the pacing but there were parts that I found a tad boring because there was too much description. When they do their acts it’s gotten a bit too repetitive for my liking

There honestly wasn’t too much I didn’t enjoy it just took me a while to get through so I think 3 stars is a fair rating and again is not a bad rating. This series is definitely one I would highly recommend

The last book in the Magic Misfits series, and a lovely end to the story. Neil Patrick Harris has a real flair for writing books that make you feel good about yourself.

I've really enjoyed the Magic Misfits series, its fun but also has a really good heart. The friendships are lovely and exploring the different characters with each book has been great. A solid middle grade series and this was a strong ending.

I AM BEREFT. I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS SERIES IS OVER. I AM WEEPING. WHAT A GOOD FINALE. This was seriously the most perfect way to close out this series, and though I am absolutely heartbroken that it’s over, I really love what NPH did with these books, and I know it’s going to be like A:TLA for me in that I’m so sad the whole world won’t read it because it’s middle grade. It’s just such a fantastic story, and I think that everyone in elementary school should be reading it, and I am going to continue weeping for the rest of my days. I love that we got to see each of the Misfits have a book, and I was so excited to see Ridley close it out. There were so many elements, over the course of this series, that reminded me of ASOUE, but they were done so much better, and I’m really glad NPH capped it at four and didn’t just keep churning them out. I loved the characters, the relationships between adult and children, the lessons, both magical and moral, and just everything. These are truly outstanding books.

We finished out the series with our favorite magical youth. It was a satisfying ending and a surprising one. The kids enjoyed it just as much as the others. It was interesting that we ended up reading it at the same time as my son & I were buddy-reading Flora & Ulysses since both main characters have similar mother characters with similar issues. We had fun noticing the similarities there.

Personally I've had a harder time with the Ridley character, which stands to reason because she's abrasive. NPH really grew her character over the course of this book and built-up her back story. The only piece I feel like we missed was a lack of resolution with the father whom she loves but was missing for the whole book.

It felt like a really well-rounded, full-circle series. I'm not left feeling like anything is unresolved or we need more of the characters. BUT...I do hope that NPH has another book (or book series) up his sleeve because these were good!

Obviously after reading the first three I had to continue into the finale. Ridley was always my favorite of the Misfits, due in no small part to her prickly attitude but fierce loyalty to her friends (tough on the outside, gooey on the inside are my favorite characters), so I was always most excited to read her POV. And for it to be the finale to the series? All the better!

Overall, this is a fantastic ending to a fantastic series. The illustrations, tricks, and narration are definitely geared toward younger readers, possibly having it read to them, but I think even older readers will find something to love in these characters and their stories, as I have. So whether you're looking for some magic tips and tricks, a bit of whimsy and fun, or just a good story to curl up inside, definitely give The Magic Misfits a try. I laughed, I cried, I felt wonder and joy, and really that's all the magic I can ask for right now.
