An interesting and informative book explaining the benefits of a positive approach in many social situations. Any experienced manager will tell you that the techniques described in the book work, and while not one-size-fits-all, it’s certainly one-size-fits-most.
The references are very dated, but as long as you can put yourself in the mindset of the day anyone can understand the examples.
It sort of boils down to eschewing harsh criticism and asserting your position in favour of a more understanding, empathetic, and positive approach – which can seem a bit obvious to some, but it’s certainly worth a read if you’re in a job that deals with people a lot, especially if you’re in management.
