A series of essays and vignettes when I was expecting more novel format. Once I got past that the humor and advice did shine through and I appreciate Alyssa's willingness to show herself in a less than positive light.

Not as interesting as her first book. I was frequently trying to figure out the point she was trying to make. I appreciated the candor, but I didn’t feel that I gained anything from reading it. If I hadn’t liked the first book so much, I probably would’ve stopped reading this one because it never hooked me.

2.5 maybe? I never read the first one so maybe I didn’t know what I was getting into. But it felt a bit disjointed, just random stories plopped down into chapters. My kid told me to stop reading it bc I wasn’t interested, but I finished anyway. She was probably right, should’ve just stopped.

There's lots of good stuff here (probably not really 4 stars worth but I'm not going to apologize for having a girl crush on Alyssa Matromonaco), I'd love a book with a bit more shape to it, this feels more like a series of very good blog posts but again, I'm a fan so I'm not sorry I bought it or read it.

I did not read Alyssa Mastromonaco's first book. Not because I didn't want to, but because I just haven't gotten yet. This book is a collection of essays and stories that are informative and entertaining.

Ms. Mastromonaco worked in the Obama White House. She went on to work at Vice and A&E TV. Her stories are funny and sweet. I particularly liked her essay about not having children and being a cat lady. She is honest and refreshingly funny.

If you are interested in politics and women and funny stories, this is the book for you. Word of caution, if you are a Trump person, you may want to skip this book. And if you follow my reviews, I highly doubt you are a Trump person. But just so you're warned.

I won this book from goodreads and received no compensation in exchange for this review. The opinions contained herein are mine and mine alone.

I really enjoy her voice and her thoughts. It's a well done memoir that goes beyond her time at the White House and actually deserves to. It takes more of an essay format than her last book, and I like that. It needed to be different, and it really worked.

I didn't love it as much as her first book, this one was substantially more political in tone, and more negative. The rehashing of stories was also a disappointment. However, I did still like it.

Like many other reviewers, I found AM’s second book to be a little scattered and lacking in depth. I still enjoyed it because I find her relatable and entertaining (thus 3 ⭐️) but I can’t imagine specifically recommending it to anyone.

I wanted to love this book as much as I loved her first. But for whatever reason I struggled to connect. The stories were ok. But nothing that made me want to keep reading.
