The story starts off with Jessa in Caleb's room. At first, I wasn't hooked with the events of the story. Then, as I continued, I suddenly get excited about what would happen next. It's a great mystery read. The way Megan Miranda wrote it was amazing. The events were played very well. Another great thing about this book is that it isn't hard to connect with the characters. I love how headstrong Jessa is, how loyal and caring Max is, how mysterious, but somehow hot, Caleb is. The thing about the story is that it doesn't go in order, with the flashbacks and all, but it doesn't make your mind go haywire. Like, some way, somehow, everything is still in order, the puzzle being solved slowly, step by step. I love how subtle but sweet the romance is here in this book. I love it so much.

I want to thank NetGalley and Random House Children's for providing me with this copy in exchange for an honest review

This book is so good, it's my first experience with the author, but it sure will not be the last. I've had such a good time with this book, from the beginning you just want to keep reading, not only the story is very interesting but also really additive

You can find this one and more of my reviews on my blog A Book. A Thought.

Fragments of the Lost is focused on Jessa, her ex-boyfriend Caleb has just died in a car accident, and his mother asks Jessa if she would be able to order her son's room and pack his things. Although she feels a bit out of place while being in Caleb's room again, she still decides to do so because she feels that maybe it's a good way to work through the guilt she feels for his accident. Being in this place Jessa will be surrounded by memories and pieces of their relationship and this will make her begin to wonder if she actually knew Caleb at all.

I decided to request this book because it's described as ideal for [b:We Were Liars|16143347|We Were Liars|E. Lockhart|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1402749479s/16143347.jpg|21975829] fans, and since it's one of my favorite books, then I decided that why not give it a chance, right?. Well I wasn't wrong, this book is absolutely intriguing, has much suspense, mystery and is that kind of story that once you start it you can't stop until you know the whole truth. I felt too hooked throughout the book and to be a book with so much mystery content is really easy and quick to read. I'm so happy to have chosen it, I really spent an excellent time reading it, trying to put all the pieces in place, was really fun

Jessa is a great main character, she only goes for what she wants and is very determined in her decisions, I really liked her and this has been very influential for me, since the whole book is told in first person by her, there were moments in which I felt so bad for her and for all the situation in which she was involved, but she was so strong and I really admire that, I would have started to cry like a little girl lol. I liked the secondary characters a lot, I also think that they all have very different personalities and this makes the plot more complete and entertaining. Max's character is great, he is really such a good person, I love it (I don't want to specify who he is, or why I liked him because I want everyone to find out and get to know him). I have several thoughts about Caleb too, not all of them are good so I don't want to express them too much because SPOILERS.

The book is divided into three parts: Part 1 "The Fragments", where we see Jessa trying to put together the puzzle to find out what was going on in Caleb's life before his accident and thus try to reveal his secrets. This part is almost the majority of the book, I think it is 80% or even more. Part 2 "The Puzzle", is where everything is revealed and the truth comes to light. This was my favorite part OMG, the revelations are so good and like everything is handled it was great and out of the ordinary. Part 3 "The Future", which is the part where obviously we'll see the future of the characters and how their lives continue after the past events

I really loved the book, but I'm not giving it a complete 5 stars because I was more interested in the present throughout the book and how it includes many jumps to the past this influenced, although it wasn't boring at all, I needed to know a little more about the relationships of the characters in the present. Even so I think that the jumps to the past end up being key when it comes to knowing more about the Caleb and Jessa's relationship and how it changes and leads to the situations that led to its separation and the accident itself

The writing style is beautiful, I love how deep and almost poetic it ends up being, the meaning of the plot is much more than discovering things about your ex lol, it's about trust, it's about family, secrets and also plays a lot with, how far you're able to get to uncover the truth and how this changes you as a person. It presents situations where she feels that she gives too much when she wasn't receiving anything in return. It's really interesting and it has touched me more than I thought. The story of Caleb and Jessa is much more than a love story, it's about another kind of love and it is also about getting to know yourself, that was really nice.

The ending was great, I liked that wasn't the typical happy ending but it was a much more real and enjoy that fact

I would recommend this book a lot for all those who enjoy a good YA reading, of course you'll find a mystery story, but even if this is not your cup of tea, it's much more than that. This book is about self discovery and it's about figuring out what you want to do with your life or what you're willing to do for those you love and for yourself, so I'd say if you like the Contemporary YA in general, then you'll enjoy this one!. It doesn't have a heavy content in terms of romance either, so if you like the plot with little romance this would be a good option! I would totally read another book with the same characters, it was a great journey.

3.5/5. I really enjoyed this one! The story wasn't extraordinarily and some things were predictable, but it was mysterious enough to keep me reading and trying to make hypothetical scenarios of what really happened. I loved how we got some moments of the past through different objects. It was well written. If you liked We were Liars, you will like this one!

Okay so it's been around 24 hours and I've had time to actually try and wrap my head around what happened in this book. I picked it up, expecting a simple contemporary about a girl trying to come to terms with a fatal accident that her ex boyfriend was in. However, it was anything but simple. I loved all the twists, and learning so much about Caleb along with Jessa kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I wish more of the novel took place in the present - I realize that the entire point of this book is about Jessa remembering moments in time as she found things in Caleb's room, but still - a lot of the first part of the book was about her memories, and while it was interesting I felt like that frame made the beginning drag a little bit. But in part two, when the story became less about the memories and more about the mystery, I couldn't read it fast enough.

Character wise, I really only liked Jessa and Max (Jessa and Caleb's mutual friend) from the main characters; they made a good team and honestly after a few chapters with Max during the flashbacks, I shipped it. Hailey, Jessa's best friend, and Julian, her older brother were amazing side characters. But everyone else just bothered me. First of all Caleb's mom, Eve, was awful. I understand that her son was in a fatal accident and she's in mourning, however, blaming a teenage girl for his death, and forcing her to clean out his bedroom as an almost revenge is...a lot. She was rude to Jessa, who's dealing with her own guilt (internalized and placed upon her by the rumor mill at her high school), and also told Caleb's little sister that she isn't allowed to speak to Jessa because she's "sneaky". She only gets worse as the book gets on.

Jessa's parents weren't in the book a lot, but when they were, they almost played favorites with their kids, very obviously preferring Julian. However, this book is told through Jessa's POV so maybe it was just her thinking that her family thought Julian was perfect, so anyways... Also I didn't like Caleb at all. In the flashbacks he was condescending and rude and it was very obvious he hid things from Jessa, and honestly in some of the scenes I just sat there wondering why Jessa was even with him. Which, speaking of: their breakup seems like the center of most of the action in this novel, but the breakup scene takes up about a page and a half (I read the ebook so I'm not sure if it's the same amount of space in the physical book), but what I really wanted was the reason why they broke up. There was a vauge mention of it in the break up scene, but it was never fleshed out.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! I think it was really well done and all the twists and turns were amazing; if you're looking for a suspenseful YA mystery novel, I'd suggest picking this one up!

Man, I really loved this, but I also have a thing for books about grief. The way this was crafted really worked for me.

This probably would’ve been a 5 star if the last two chapters didn’t exist.

2.75 stars*
This book held my interest in the beginning, but I just found the second half boring, and the end was too far-fetched for me.

It took me a while to read this because it started pretty slow. But about 1/3 through, this one started to gallop and I couldn’t read fast enough for my taste. What a cool, unique mystery.

OMG! I never expected the turn of events. It gripped me from the beginning.

Will post review later

So this book is a little slow to start, and it's fragmented like the title. You see different memories each chapter and you aren't quite sure why that matters, until about halfway through when you start to put the pieces together. There is a lot of foreshadowing in each chapter that if you pay attention to it you can start to figure out what is going on, certain words and tenses that are used. I started by reading this book and then finished it by listening to it, and I would say that listening definitely makes it more exciting.
