Just okay. Lots of description of the diverse weather. Setting is a small Scottish village. I found the lords and ladies and acquiring titles interesting. Lots of characters and several twists.

This book was so endearing and the description of the scenery and fall time weather was charming and enrapturing. I thoroughly enjoyed becoming well acquainted with each character and the interplay between them all.

Lovely imagery of Scotland, decent character development, climax was a let down.

Nothing so comforting as a Pilcher novel.

There is so much to love about the characters in this book and there are so many quotes about life that I found so beautiful. I really am sad it is over. Don’t let the length of the book keep you from reading it. You will love it.

A slow start, but a fulfilling finish. My Lord, that plot twist. I’m hoping to read more of Pilcher’s books soon... if only the ILL department would open again!

Pilcher has a wonderful way of describing scenes, places, characters, situations, relationships and feelings. I enjoyed the story but most of all I enjoyed the way that she described the small details. Definitely I would like to read one more book from the author.
