Anthony Horowitz continues to develop the unlikely pairing of the writer and the detective in this puzzle mystery that mimics the Golden Age of whodunits. Hawthorne, the enigma, continues to be revealed while Horowitz remains the Watsonian figure. In all, another nicely written adventure.
Got to 58% and decided I really hate this book. EVERY character is unlikeable, including investigator, police, victims, suspects..... bah!

Enjoying this series, easy and quick read
i liked the story just fine, but i wasn't crazy about how it was told. it was more than a little weird to have the author, Horowitz, both the main character and the narrator in a work of fiction. go figure.

The 2nd in the Hawthorne series. This, if you remember, is the series where the author himself is one of the main characters. Similar to the first novel in that there's a lot of information about Anthony Horowitzs other writing projects and his home life mixed in with the story. But I found it less egotistical this time and enjoyed the mystery very much.
4/5 horowitz sure does know how to write a fun whodunnit!

Didn’t like this one as much as the first but still impeccably done.
