oh god stop saying “ah” please I can’t bear it any more. such a stupid infantile thing to dislike in a book but I just deeply disliked the cadence of the sentences and how disjointed they were and how if I grasped one thread for a moment it would disappear as she cuts it off with some truism. this book really was like reading truisms over and over. I respect it but I found it tedious and downright annoying at times

I hate to say it (I really do), cause I was hoping to love it, but it really was not my cup of tea. If there is someone who lives in existencial crisis and loves to overthink, it’s me, but Clarice didn’t do it for me.
This is my first time venturing into litfic and I am incredibly impressed. From the first chapter up until the last was deeply profound, I truly felt the emotions the author wanted to convey; doubts, distaste, realization, ego death and transformation. It masterfully shown the struggle of women in society with conditioned roles and expectations.
