Okay yes I read this in a total of 8 hours… sue me
The perfect combination of the proposal and while you were sleeping to the point I even pictured Sandra bullock being the mfc
But what a cute story and honestly so fun for this series to get out of Boston
One thing I don’t like is the influencer aspect but I get it for the series
Give me more Evan everyday of the year please what a cutie!
Are we having more books soon Amy Lea?

TY to Berkley and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. 3.5 ⭐ rounded up to 4.
If you loved Tessa Bailey's 'It Happened One Summer', you will eat this up.
The Catch is the third in an interconnected standalone series. I thought this book was adorable, a little spicy and genuine. I'm a sucker for small town romances so I was excited that this was taking place in one. Mel is a really likable FMC and I appreciated that she had such a strong backbone with Evan. They reminded me a little of Jonah and Calla from the simple wild, but Evan is much sweeter!
- grumpy / sunshine
- city girl / small town guy
- small town
- forced proximity

I’m gonna just put it out there… I am so done with the whole ‘woman leaves the city and moves to the bum fuck middle of nowhere for a guy’ trope because, for once, why can’t the guy decide ‘you know what? I love this woman enough to move anywhere for her. Why does it always have to be the women giving up her life with the assumption that living in the ‘country’ is better than a city. And this is coming from a woman who would absolutely pack up her life and go and live somewhere remote if she had the chance. Anyway, rant over lol. While this book does fall into this trope it also subverts it in a way at the end.
Mel is a great character and someone who carries a lot of trauma with her. Adopted and then abandoned by her mother, raised by a father who couldn’t seem to get out of debt, growing up being the sole parent to her younger brother, constantly in fear of loosing her income and going back to that life. Despite being a fashion influencer with thousands of followers, she only has two people in the world she would class as ‘friends’ and lives a fairly solitary life. Sufering from a decline in followers and paid partnerships, when she gets offered the chance to fly out to a boutique spa for an all inclusive week away she jumps at the chance. But fate has other ideas in mind and Mel’s week away quickly goes from chilled to chilly.
Enter Evan. Evan was probably my least favourite of Lea’s male leads. He spends the first part of the book almost looking down on Mel for her profession, snubbing her, assuming she’s rich because she makes an effort and wears nice clothes, calling her vapid and vain. And then when they finally get together he just assumes that she would upend her life in Boston to come and live with him because he could never live in a city. Doesn’t understand her worry when her brother stops answering her messages. He basically acted like a man child through most of the book, but it’s ok… he made it all up at the end with a grand gesture and kind of apology… (just in case you didn’t get that bit I was being massively sarcastic!)
Despite Evan ruining a good portion of the book for me, there were parts that I did like, mainly the plot line about the Inn and Evan’s family. Lea does a brilliant job at showing how tragedy can tear a family apart and love can bring it back together. Evan may have been a man child, and some of his family members certainly acted a little childish in parts, but as a whole I loved them and they added a humour and quirkiness to the story that was very much needed.
The romance was enemies to lovers, but the worst kind of it, where the characters act like children in parts rather than the adults they are. It’s filled with misconceptions and misunderstandings, namely because of Evan’s behaviour and then almost 360 turn around, and I struggled getting invested in it. There’s plenty of smut and heat filled scenes, but I just didn’t feel the romance between these two and, since this was a rom-com at heart, it ruined the book a little for me.
I’m so sad that this was ending to this series because I loved the first two books. It felt almost juvenile compared to the rest of the stories and romances and, apart from Mel and a few of Evan’s family members, the characters acted incredibly juvenile in parts too. If you’re a staunch enemies to lovers fan you may enjoy this one, but the romance just wasn’t for me and overall made the book fall flat.

The final instalment of the The Influencer Series, three interconnected standalone novels following three friends as they each fall in love.
Fake dating/engagement
'Enemies' to lovers
Small town
Grumpy x sunshine
Melanie Karlsen is a fashion/lifestyle influencer looking to expand her content in a last ditch effort to stay relevant online. After a brand trip mix-up, Mel finds herself in a rural village in Canada with only one Airbnb to stay in. Reluctantly, the owner agrees for her to stay even though the Inn is under renovations.
Enter Evan, burly fisherman who is the epitome of 'grumpy' in our grumpy x sunshine. A boating accident lands Evan in the hospital, and Mel wakes at his bedside to find his whole family believing she is his fiancée. This is a family that has been divided for years, and news of this surprise engagement seems to be bringing them together. Mel agrees to keep up the ruse for on week, but soon finds herself wondering if she could really leave this small town, and a certain fisherman, behind.
This was fun! I really liked the premise, and the setting was a nice change from the previous two books in the series. I did struggle to warm to Mel a little, but I enjoyed hers and Evan's interactions and watching their fake relationship develop. I liked how Mel was looking to make the most out of the mix-up with her trip and offered to help Evan and his cousin with content for the Inn if they helped her get some outdoorsy content for her account.
I did feel there were a few gaps in the plot for this one, some things not quite feeling finished or rushed through. Overall, this is still a really fun read and I would definitely recommend it.
I've really enjoyed this series. All of them have been quick, easy reads that I've read in one sitting. If you haven't already read [b:Set on You|58784485|Set on You (The Influencer, #1)|Amy Lea|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1632497547l/58784485._SX50_.jpg|92562027] or [b:Exes and O's|60880795|Exes and O's (The Influencer, #2)|Amy Lea|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1661199150l/60880795._SX50_.jpg|96016529], I would definitely give those a read before The Catch releases early next year.
The Catch releases February 15th 2024.

This one was ok for me.
I liked the characters and plot. Mel and Evan were cute and the side characters were fun! I enjoyed the town and their story, but it fell short for me.
I can’t nail down why but it just didn’t grab me.

Very funny, feelgood fluffy romcom with good chemistry between main chracters and witty too. The best tropes; small town, crumpy hero and fake dating
