This first 20% of this book had me literately laughing out loud and I thought this book was going to be an amazing surprise.
Unfortunately, the feeling didn’t last long. Mel was the typical city girl that actually had more depth when you got to know her and Evan was the typical small town grump that actually had a sad backstory. And that in itself was actually great. But I just didn’t connect with the story and the characters as I first thought I would and halfway way through the book, I was a little bit bored.
So, I would say this book was pretty cute and fun but it didn’t made me want to read the previous book in the series either.

4.5! Idk what Amy Lea is putting in her male characters, but man do I want to know where to find them… I loved the show of vulnerability in this book and how difficult that can be when you don’t want to burden someone with your struggles. I loved the small coastal Canadian town, and now feel like I need to book a vacation to Canada

The Catch by Amy Lea follows Melanie, a Boston fashion influencer, as she travels to Nova Scotia to try to rescue her brand. Instead of staying at the luxury resort, she winds up at a small fishing village with a grumpy fisherman, Evan, as her bed-and-breakfast host. In true rom-com fashion, a boating accident lands Evan in the hospital and Melanie is mistaken as his fiancée by his family, who are in a feud over the B&B. Instead of coming clean, Melanie agrees to fake their relationship to help mend the family rift, in exchange for Evan's help with her social media content.

This was such a fun, enjoyable read. It is a classic rom-com that mixes "The Proposal" and "While You Were Sleeping" vibes. I enjoyed Melanie's persistence and ability to stand up for herself - she knows who she is and what her best interests are. Evan is almost just as stubborn, and even though these two fight a lot, they eventually learn they can let their guards down and compromise with each other. The side and supporting characters were real and endearing, and I liked Melanie's growth in accepting her brother's new life and the changes he has made.
