For the most part I really enjoyed this book (the 2nd half at least), but I felt like this was quite slow to get going. This is definitely one of those reads that stressed me out as an adult reader when you can't stop a character from doing something foolish. For that alone, well done for making me feel helpless.

Eleanor doesn’t really like or enjoy school, but does she really want it to end? Eleanor believes an asteroid is going to hit Earth on April 7 and change the future of the world. She’s also in 7th grade and stressed about the mean girl, Londyn, her annoying little brothers, her grandpa Joe, and the fact that her best friend Mack might be leaving her to attend a school for the Blind. Eleanor is a well written pre-teen who will bring you into her world and make you care a little more about all the drama that middle schoolers bring with them.

Middle grade
Contemporary

MC’s grandfather is a doomsday prepper and drills her and her brothers every so often so when she sees a professor claim that an asteroid is going to hit Esrth, she takes it very seriously, as does her best friend, Mack, who urges her to start an ‘End of the World / Nature Club’ to prep their classmates for the possibility of TEOTWAWKI.

Lots of friendship dilemma, end-of-the-world anxiety, etc. Great character growth at the end.

This was a cute middle grade novel about a girl who believes something re read online (written by someone who she believes to be from a reliable source) stating that the world will end in April. Eleanor's grandfather is a "prepper" and she has had plenty of opportunity to train for the end of the world. The question is, will her friends and family heed her warning?

This was part of my project this year to each month read a book with that month in the title. It was a pretty good pick for that, and I think some late elementary/tweens might like it more than I did. I generally liked the plot, but found the main character a bit annoying towards the end and wished the denouement had been a bit longer. On the whole, satisfying but forgettable. I liked that it included multiple appendices of resources on the various topics from the story--more middle grade fiction books should do that.

Aku kurang bisa connect sama apa yang dirasakan si tokoh utama. Tipe bacaan ringan yang konfliknya juga biasa aja bisa diselesaikan dengan cepat. Still it's a fun reading journey.

Review of ARC: I love it when I learn something new and this book taught me quite a bit about preppers. The end-of-the-world makes for an appropriate background for a middle grade novel dealing with the changing nature of friendships. I really appreciate the website evaluation tips.
