At the end of this book, I became deeply worried about book three. I'm hesitant to read the ending as I see things being set up that I don't want to see.

Sooo good I cannot wait to see where this series goes! I love how each character has so many flaws, it's refreshing in a story to have no clear "good guy". Of course the first book was better, but that doesn't mean this was an amazing sequel.

The second book in this trilogy had all the things I expected and wanted, and sets up what I anticipate to be an action-filled and intense finale. Like most middle books in trilogies, this mainly served as the calm before the storm, with all the characters working to forge their final alliances and (mostly) wipe away any doubts they had about their romantic relationships. This time we learned more about Aren and his powers, as well as his surprising romance. I like him so it was good to see things from his perspective, especially regarding his uneasy relationship with Olivia, who also has her own chapters and is a pretty harrowing character to read. Cas and Em remain strong characters, though Cas slipped a little and needed to be brought back from his conflicted emotions (one of my favourite parts by the way). I also liked the growth given to the world, the betrayals, and the deep romances between many of the characters. The ending promises to be intense, and I can't wait to see how it all wraps up!

This review and many more can be found on my blog: Feed Your Fiction Addiction

After reading Ruined (and being tortured by the cliffhanger), I doubted that book two could live up to the amazingness of that first book. I was so happy to be wrong. If anything, things get even more complicated in this installment as Em is torn between her love for her sister, her loyalty to the Ruined, and her love for Cas. Once again, Tintera doesn't pull any punches. Nothing is easy or black and white. It's sometimes hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys, and danger lurks around every turn. Em spends most of the book simply trying to avoid an all-out war (without retreating or surrendering, of course). I loved every minute of this follow-up, so it gets 5/5 Stars. And the series makes it onto my list of All-Time Favorites!
