This book was hard to pick up but once you got past a couple pages, you were in it :)
If you do not like broken up stories, like tiny paragraphs as it progresses; this is not for you.

I thought this was such an interesting tale from the perspective of the mom of the parents and then the boy of the two children. There was interesting parallels to the idea of lost children and our government.
The ending felt slow because they jumbled all of the worlds together to be one conscious thought, but it was worth the patience.
The ending was disappointing in some ways because I wanted more. I wanted another chapter of the mom’s perspective. But maybe that was the point since it’s about lost children.

Worth a read! :)

Just when I was starting to lose interest, the narrative shift to "the boy" pulled me back in. An aching story

Some beautiful stuff, but didn't really connect with the characters and some of the 'archive' structure was annoying over audiobook.

This is almost perfect. Beautifully written. Moving. Evocative. Loses all of its poetic internal logic in the last quarter to disappointing effects. This could have been one of my favorites. So. Close.

The book has an interesting structure but the pace was too slow for me. I also found it hard to empathise with the first narrator - she felt too distant and the 'let me tell you the funny/weird things my kids just did/said' vibe was too strong for my liking.

The last 20% got interesting, but overall I found this book really lacking any plot or storyline.  For a book about lost kids/migrants, their stories were minimally told throughout the book.
