Super cute voice. Story was fine, slightly predictable, but overall a cute read.

This was cute! A bit unbelievable that the team leader for a trivia team for a Southern California tournament level team wouldn’t know who Authur Conan Doyle is but ok.

3.5 stars. A sweet, if predictable rom-com story centered on an independent book store in Los Angeles, and the introverted, trivia-loving woman who works there. Lots of fun literary references and trivia tidbits. A fun fast read.

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman is a light and fun chick-lit read. I know I'm in the minority here, so many reviews have given the book praise, I'm giving the book 3 out of 5 stars.

The character of Nina Hill is absolutely fabulous! Who doesn't love a fellow book nerd, that has a dream job of working in a bookstore, living a quiet life alone in her awesome apartment with a wall of books, a cuddly chair, and a cat! There are a few times through out the book that I laughed and could totally relate to Nina, being "bookish" too. I really like all the literature references, it made the book very fun to read.

There were at times that I felt like the plot got a little too sappy and cheesy. I also did not appreciate the male sexual references that Nina had in conversations with her girlfriends, totally not necessary for the story line, plot, character building, etc.

I'm glad that Waxman decided to have Nina deal with anxiety. I'm glad that she wrote a story where it's okay to have anxiety and for the world to knows that you do.

One of my favorite quotes from of the book, “Life tends toward chaos, sadly. I thought I had my life all planned out nicely, and then... everything changed completely. It's all very well to have a plan - its a good idea - but you have to be able to walk away from it if you need to.”
