I was wildly up and down on this book -- at some points I thought it was 5 stars, then I would find myself not intereested in picking it up again. Any book in which the main character loves planners is right up my alley, but this one did have a few points where it dragged.
Nina Hill is happy with her quiet life, working in a bookstore and going to trivia nights with her friends. Then a lawyer turns up unexpectedly to inform her that the father she never knew has passed away and she has a whole extra family. With that to contend with, how can she fit Tom, her attractive trivia nemesis, into the picture?
This was a cute slice of life following Nina Hill. For all that she wanted a quiet life, she has a whole lot going on. Despite how packed with quite major events this book was, the narrative didn't feel cramped or like elements weren't explored. Her emotions were covered well, and the story flowed.
I did not like her mother's character. She came across as so dismissive of Nina's feelings. Otherwise, the characters were all likeable. They were all well written. This was a steady book, easy to read, and wholesome.

Nina Hill is a book worm by my own heart and her story is clever, funny, utterly irresistible and especially poignant - I devoured it. With an overcomplicated family, bumbling boss, and friends that could only be played by the standard romcom line-up of supporting actors, Waxman created a moving picture inside my brain and I loved every minute. I especially loved the format - each chapter beginning with a daily task list (the template was perfect) - and how well it played into the greater discussion of mental health (anxiety in particular) in a real, grounded way. But most of all, I loved watching Nina grow into herself.
12/17/19 - What an utterly sweet read. And I loved the planner templates (thanks to Abbi for including the URL in the acknowledgements

Sweet story. Felt very seen. So many strange things in common with the protagonist! The romance could have used a little more depth and spice but overall a lovely book to read by the fire ❤️
Book club book, super cute story I never would have picked otherwise! So happy I read it! And a nice break to my fantasy binge I have going.
Meh. Never found the motivation to finish, mostly because I wasn't invested in how Nina Hill's life turned out. The plot had promise but lacked depth.
Gezellige popfictie, al weet ik niet of die term bestaat. Soms iets te veel ingezet op adorkable, maar vooral gewoon erg leuk!
