This reminded me a bit of Queenie (20-something British women making questionable relationship decisions), and although I enjoyed this one more, they both made me feel like I've grown out of this genre. I'm 20 years older than these women and I kind of view them as a mother (or at least a cool aunt) would, and find myself yelling at them in my head to stop doing stupid things instead of just enjoying it like I would have back in my Bridget Jones days. Sigh.

2.5 stars. Started great, funny and emotional but ended so abruptly. The ending was very disappointing and left me almost disliking the main character Julia

I dont understand why the blurbs on this book wanted me to think it was funny? Like, there are funny bits, but the bulk of it is about an abusive lesbian relationship. The manipulation and gaslighting and some assaulty sex didnt make me go ha ha ha??!!!!! I read it in a day though, so obviously I didnt hate it

This is a gripping read covering the intricacies of sexuality, sex, self identity, and navigating a controlling relationship. The book is well written and pulls the reader into Julia's mind and relationships. We follow the ups and downs of her life, and whilst we know that the relationship with Sam is wrong on so many levels, Davies writes in such a way that we feel the pull and the contradicting emotions that Julia must be going through.

This is a book I listened to on Audible, and I cannot recommend more listening to the reading by Lucy Briggs-Owen. The narration was amazing, the voices, accents and emotions presented in the reading are impeccable and I was gripped. Listened to the whole book in one sitting!

It started out as a rom-com type book, light-hearted and funny to the point that I thought it would be a nice fun break from my usual reads. It quickly turned into a much darker story about abusive relationships that I was not ready for. Both parts were good in their own right but I don't think the book is marketed true to the content.

this book made me hate the word "babes" but i did love it and it's so weird but i can't stop thinking about it

The writing itself makes it a 1 star, it's not literature it's a poorly proofread twitter thread. Then theres nonsensical characterization, bad smut, awful romance devoid of any chemistry.... this book called me the f slur and beat me up behind the bleachers. There's literally nothing good about it except the premise which makes it tragic that Kate Davies is the one who came up with it.

so poorly written
