this was such an experience that i can’t fully put into words. the girls’ pain was so tangible and hollow and familiar, and i so wish we could have known what they were truly thinking.

This book is a huge departure from the thrillers I usually read. I wasn’t sure it would be for me but I loved it. There is a beautiful quality of language used which paint a very clear picture of the setting. The memories spoken about the Lisbon girls suicides are - bizarrely - lyrical and endearing. It sounds like it was written with love and care. Be prepared to use a dictionary for a fair few words (I know many new words now!) but their choice is perfect. As strangely disturbing topic to say a book is beautiful - but for me it was. I got lost in the lengthy descriptions and truly felt I was there experiencing the same feelings as the boys retelling the story. Maybe a bit wordy and descriptive for some - very little actually happens, except the suicides, which are somewhat glossed over as the reason is more significant than the act.

Der Schreibstil hat mir gut gefallen. Interessante Beschreibungen, welche man finde ich nur noch selten zu lesen bekommt.
Teils  fande ich das Buch langweilig. Es bleiben viele Fragen offen - was aber ja nicht schlecht sein muss… Raum zum denken. War auf eine gute Weise insg. etwas mysteriös und irgendwie makaber. 
Ist an sich nicht ganz mein Genre/story/ etc. aber dennoch irgendwie gut und lesenswert.
