Once the story arc is over … the book keeps going

It kept my interest but disappointed me at the end. It was like he was writing a book to make it into a movie.

Great literature this is not.

Which is okay. Is it a fun romp? Yes. Are there twists and turn? Kinda. Is there stuff about Masons and hidden clues? Well, yeah.

I enjoyed the first two Robert Langdon books. One thing I love is how Brown uses the historical items. It's a small thing, but often I learn about new things (I usually look the items up - not being native to the east coast and things out that way, I like to see the images/painting/buildings that get talked about). And I really do enjoy that, and did enjoy that about this book.

That being said, some of it was less than stellar.

I figured out one of the main plot twists really early on. It was hard NOT to figure out, and I'm someone who reads books and doesn't think too hard about the plot twists, and am often surprised by them. Not so much this time. The big reveal was rather ho-hum for me. One of the other twists? I also figured out pretty early on.

However, I don't really read these books to think too much. Was it a fast paced page turner? Mostly. This one took a lot longer for the action to get going. And in the beginning, I really questioned the intelligence of the characters. Granted, I'm a bit more paranoid than these people are (probably the benefit of having lived with smart phones for longer than these characters. So, there is some stuff that's dated from a technology standpoint.)

All told, it was a fun book to shut my mind off and read, but not as good as the first two in the series. I've already bought the next book, so we'll see how the series continues...

I enjoyed it. I feel like his books are getting very predicable and the endings tend to leave something to be desired.

I feel completely dirty for touching this book, even thought it was given to me as a gift. The only positive thing I have to say about it is that it was over quickly.

Very interesting book. a bit too code within a code within a code... Great information on Freemasons. A bit to glory for my taste.

Supremely uninteresting. Brown doesn't even bother to hide the techniques he uses to build suspense. Very boring read indeed.
adventurous challenging dark informative mysterious reflective tense fast-paced

Not a bad follow up. I could have lived with less talk after the whole mystery was wrapped up. I also didn't like so many chapters dedicated to the point-of-view of the villain.
