I will call this a 2.5. I really liked the premise, gladiator romance & political power struggle. 

I did not like how it was executed and I don’t feel this writing style is for me. Every thing is spoon fed to the reader. All the pieces are there but it’s like the author doesn’t trust you enough to put it together.

Barely finished the book. I just never became fully invested in the storyline or characters. Skipped a lot of it to get to the end. Fight scenes were cool and I liked the FMC and mmc, but didn’t love either enough to get invested. It also felt repetitive.

It was a valiant effort to finish but both main characters were extremely Mary sue coded. They couldn’t be caught off guard, there was always just someone there to help. Every bad thing was shock factor and poorly added in, especially chapter 19. Also personal beef with having the character who is on the cusp of dying and bu all means shouldn’t be conscious enough to even keep track of what is happening be the pov character for a chapter where they’re trying to heal him. It was sloppy and nonsensical
