Although I had enjoyed reading the novella, it was quite hard to push through everything though it was clearly a quick read. It seemed like it was just a bunch movie scenes and books being matched and puzzled together to fit both characters. The writing fell flat for me, it resembled an instruction manual of what I should see, what everything is and how I should feel. It's basically a bitchy version of Meredith Grey and typical playboy Luke Collins thrusted into this twisted tale of Knocked Up and Sweet Home Alabama. with a dash of random rom-com scenes.
Nothing quite special, but a feel good read.
Moreover, I just wished the author dove more and have more attentions onto the MMC's issues because clearly there were a lot that would have gave the whole book a more original thought.

Was the MMc a little cliche? Yes. Was he almost too perfect and self-sacrificing to a fault? Yes. Was this book well written, engaging, and rooted in reality? No. Did I eat it up like the brain popcorn it is? 100%. MMC was down BAD. FMC was flawed, irritable, and reacted in ways that felt perfectly in line with her lived experience. This is such a vast improvement from the last 2 books by this author. Only real downside was the unnecessary 3rd act breakup and the fact that - thanks to an outfit description earlier in the book - i couldn't stop picturing the MMC dressed like Adam DeVine as Kelvin in The Righteous Gemstones.
