I’m reticent to call any book perfect, but the novel sets out to do exactly one thing (explain to a reasonable degree the Danish concept of Hygge to non-Danes) and it succeeds.

Happy to know that the pursuit of being cozy and comfortable and appreciating life's mundane joys has a name! ^^ I enjoyed reading this book, I couldn't put it down. 💖
I feel like the author is trying to make Hygge a thing, and it's not a thing. Honestly, the insistence on its social aspect killed it for me. Like the usual tone-deaf extrovert, he tried to sell it to introverts, then failed.
The only way this book helped my understanding of the concept of hygge was my association with the situation in which I was reading it. It happened to be raining, I decided to spend the day wrapped in blankets, reading and drinking coffee. This is essentially what the book describes, over and over and over again. Wildly repetitive, and I only kept reading because it was fairly short and light reading. The author describes some studies but doesn't talk about statistical significance, so a lot of this feels like confirmation bias. Some other reviewers noted how much this book seemed to push consumerism, what with the expensive lamps and cabins and such. At the same time, there was a chapter that claimed one didn't need money to practice hygge. However, I don't think I have a better understanding of what hygge is after having read the book.
Reread: this was our book club pick for the month of January--what a perfect time of year to practice your hygge skills! Everyday happiness has been such an important part of my life as changes and moves happen, so it was good for me to revisit this little marvel.
OG review: I was so pleased to receive this as a Christmas present after I read this this year! The basic book on living happily and cozily. The candle and plant population has increased tenfold in my apartment.

This was a lovely, short read. Full of appealing illustrations and useful tips, The Little Book of Hygge seems to embody the ambiance of much of the interior decoration corner of Pinterest. I think that there is some push towards consumerism (particularly with its emphasis on pricy lighting and furniture), but Wiking also weaves in some happiness research, which I found intriguing, and focuses on the fundamental pillars of hygge (spending time with loved ones, eating good food, etc.). I read this little book in one sitting, and though I probably won't implement many of Wiking's tips into my life, I liked the mood established throughout it.
Practical ideas, inspiring, bonus tips and research on happiness.
Light read, good to read in between books. Easy to pick up and put down whenever.
I’m excited to try incorporating little bits of Hygge into my daily life
