look I liked it. But there is only so many ways you can describe the same thing. Kind of receptive and consumerist at times. Some of the statistics felt made up. They would make general statements like fact that are not reallllllly facts. Idk maybe i’m a hater on the scientific method of happiness studies. But worth the read if you are super interested in learning more about hygge, open to better books on the topic

I really loved everything written in this book. After reading how Danes lead their life, I feel like moving to Denmark. Everything they do as part of Hygge makes sense to me and there are many that I already follow. I hope to incorporate more of these Hygge practices into my daily life. Great book to read and great lifestyle to practice. I read this book in one go and just couldn’t keep it down.
And the photography in this book is beautiful!

Wonderful book!! Everything about this book (from the images, and friendly-style of writing, to lovely paper) made me incredibly happy. This may also be so because my brother and half-Dansk nephew live about an hour from Copenhagen, and so many inclusions made me think of them. I may have also completely devoured this book because the Hygge lifestyle was ingrained in my upbringing (in the Canadian countryside, in a house built by our parents, beside a huge garden, and acres to play in, an old oil lantern on our main table, etc). I have always described my aesthetic tendencies as "rustic divine", unknowing that they have always been Hygge. I love growing a garden, canning, reading, sewing, knitting, crafting, burning candles, soft light, rustic cabins and camping, spending time outside with a few great friends, followed by great meals made together, solid wood furniture, etc. I even got a few pointers on how to make life even cozier!!

I unfortunately read a few reviews before picking up this book, and am sorry that I did. A couple of readers even found that this book was nothing more than one long advertisement to buy more stuff! Perhaps they didn't make it as far as the "Best things in life are free (or nearly)" chapter, or didn't see that aside from buying candles, the fundamentals of Hygge are humility, slowness, togetherness, the right atmosphere, sharing and coziness against the cold and dark. I just wanted to mention that in case you have been turned off by those same reviews.

It may be that this was just THE perfect book for my introvert, artisan nature. Or, maybe it's both welcoming and fascinating!
