Listened as an audiobook, read by the author. This was such a pleasant book to listen to on my walks! There are Danish words and other non-English terms, and I liked the audiobook because the author can pronounce them. Aspects of my life already align with hygge, but the book inspired me to take friendships and my living space more seriously. Hopefully my friends and I can visit Copenhagen! I want to get a hard copy because there are recipes and lists+tips for how to live hygge-ly. Highly recommend for anyone who's reflecting on a more peaceful life.

Why are the Danes the happiest people in the world? This book seeks to answer that through explaining hygge. But really this book made me want to move to Denmark. Listened to audiobook, partly while driving through a snowstorm on the way to see loved ones for Thanksgiving, which ended up being quite appropriate.
Happiness is interesting
I like books like this where I can read and see what it means to be such and such for different people. In this book, it was how Danes are generally happier than the rest of the world. At least, how Denmark is usually rated happiest country in the world. I liked learning that is something’s that I can change or improve on to raise my general level of happiness.

Having any background at all with these ideas will make this book not boring, but highly skim-able. A reassuring and, well, comfy little read with nothing life changing (for me, at least, but my home started fairly Nordic nook-ish to begin with), some cute new ideas, and a scant dash of history and anecdote. Not bad.
